One-day Introduction to Mindfulness Retreat

Jackie has developed this one-day mindfulness retreat to enable people who are curious about mindfulness but don't want to commit to the 8 week MBSR course that is the standard route. It is also suitable for people who have experience of meditation and mindfulness or who have completed the 8 week course.

The aim of this day is to relax, have fun and be taken care of in the beautiful and unique setting of the Sky Garden in Odiham village in Hampshire. Jackie is passionate about sharing her love for mindfulness and how it has helped her with pain, stress and depression.  She also loves delicious nutritious food and sharing it with others!  Jackie has lost 2 stone by discovering the healing power of food and adopting a healthier attitude to eating using mindfulness to help with her Fibromyalgia. Whenever possible she uses locally sourced ingredients and produce grown from her own garden.

On the day you will meet in a small group of up to 6 people and experience a taste of mindfulness by way of small exercises that explain what mindfulness is. Jackie will take you through some short meditations and answer any questions you may have on the subject.  It is in no way intrusive and you will not be put on the spot or asked any direct questions.  Some people prefer not to share and that is absolutely fine.

A long lunch takes place in Jackie's kitchen and you will have time to explore the gardens and stunning view of the chalk pit afterwards.

The day ends at 4 pm following a relaxation exercise called the body scan.

Testimonials from previous participants

I think it’s amazing that a group of people who don’t know each other can be so open and honest with each other.  One of the best lunches I’ve ever tasted!

The location in North Hampshire and the atmosphere at the Sky Garden were perfect for meditation and the small group setting meant we were able to openly share our life experiences together (without pressure).  There were lots of cathartic and revelatory moments.  Overall I’ve not been so relaxed in years and feel I can readily begin to apply the techniques that were taught in order to experience a more relaxing and rewarding life.

The day far exceeded my expectations and I will be making changes in my life as a result.  I do hope you offer the 8 week course as I feel you have any amazing gift in bringing mindfulness to life – excellent – it was perfect.
